Virtual World

So I read an article about how second life and virtual worlds can be used in the educational environment. It said something like that these virtual websites make people feel that they are a part of the actual environment. As if like they were there or something. I was told to blog about how I would use it in a classroom so I just downloaded the virtual world game thing-second life. I got on it an played some so that I could see how it could be used in the educational setting called school or class. I basically talk to a few people from around the world. There was this Spanish chick that spoke to me but I did not understand her. I thought she was cute though, at least in the virtual world. I guess a site like this can help people interact with each other and learn from each other. I know that the world is growing and that one of the forces that is driving the world is interdependence among nations. We work better together so it is probably better that we learn from each other. One way that we can do that is through virtual worlds. I'm sure teachers could talk to other teachers from other countries and set up a collaborative site and assignments that allow each other to work and learn off of each other. I did this on blogs before in EDM310 for Dr. Strange at the University of South Alabama. We had certain blogs that we followed and I think we interacted with some students from different parts of the world. It has been a while so it is kind of vague to me, but it was something like that. Kids know more about these interactive sites than I do anyways. I remember last year all the students playing some kind of game where they were shooting each other but talking to each other. Some of the interaction came between the students in the class while they were also talking to people across the world. I do not think it was too educational but at least they interacted with others.
